In 1980 the Café-Restaurant which had still remained on the property, was destined to a similar destiny when it was completely destroyed by a fire.

1983 was the year of the re-birth of this spectacular almost lost piece of Viennese history when the successful gastronome Olaf Auer decide to invest his energy and heart in the painstaking reconstruction of this memorable property.  

Only after 3 years, despite bureaucratic hurdles and physical endeavours, the first building phase was completed. The first guests were able to regale, once again, at the gastronomic delights and the fantastic view of the rolling hills surrounding Vienna and its famous Danube. The Cobenzl dynasty continues.

Out of the burned ruins of Café Cobenzl Olaf Auer created a flourishing Café and restaurant for all who are looking for a relaxed atmosphere far from the bustle and stress of daily living.
